It is an easy-to-use online platform that shows how land in Lesotho looks today and how it has changed over time. It uses satellite images to display land cover information from 2017, helping users understand what is happening to our land.

The dashboard is designed for everyone, government ministries, national institutions, NGOs, researchers, farmers and the general public. It helps users learn about:

  • Land degradation
  • Changes in land use
  • Impacts of these activities
  • Possible future land-use scenarios

The dashboard works at different levels, national, district, catchment, sub-catchment, and community council. It shows different types of land cover, such as forests and grasslands.

For ReNOKA, the dashboard is a vital tool that provides a reliable baseline to monitor land degradation and to measure how effective Integrated Catchment Management activities are across the country. By tracking changes in vegetation and land use, it helps Lesotho plan better ways to protect land and water resources and build resilience.
