ReNOKA is an inclusive movement
Bringing together government, communities, civil society, development partners and the private sector to protect and restore Lesotho’s rivers.
Steering structures
The Orange-Senqu River is Southern Africa’s most important river, shared by four countries. Protecting its source in Lesotho requires cooperation across governments, communities, businesses and civil society.
ReNOKA is led by the Government of Lesotho, with support from the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation (BMZ). Implementation is managed by the Integrated Catchment Management Coordination Unit in the Ministry of Natural Resources in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
Together with technical experts, local businesses and communities, ReNOKA is building a capable framework to restore, protect and manage the Orange-Senqu River Basin, starting in Lesotho.
